M is for meme, that's good enough for me.

The gist of it is that someone gives you a letter and you list ten things you like that begin with that letter. The lovely and talented phinnia suggests the letter R for me, and here are ten things in almost no particular order.

1. Reading. Shocking, I know.


2. Road trips. My idea of a great weekend is loading up the iPod, hopping in the car, opening the sun roof, and taking off. Looks like my planned road trip this month is falling through, so I should figure out an alternative.


3. Red pandas. *squee*


4. Retro dresses. Not the "neon crap I wore the first time around in the 80s" type, I mean stuff styled like this. If it was practical and I was better shaped for it (i.e. had a waist), I would dress like this all the freakin' time. Yes, including the gloves.


5. Retail therapy. I like this rather more than I should, in fact.


6. Rescues. There are several people on my f-list who do a lot of work with abandoned and stray animals, and I don't think I say often enough how much I appreciate their work


7. Rovers, Martian. I am going to cry like a baby when Spirit and Opportunity finally give up.


8. Romance. My crunchy cynical outer shell is so thin as to be nonexistent at times.


9. Ryan Adams. More Whiskeytown - "Cold Roses"-era Ryan than the latest, I must admit. ("La Cienega Just Smiled") ("Let It Ride")


10. Reliance, self-. I tend towards a strange mixture of toddleresque "I wanna do it myself! Don't help me!" and "*flail* Auuuuugh!"; I like to think I manage well enough to take care of myself, and I usually do. Sometimes though...*flail*

My boss' husband is working on a job site in OH, and she told me that he recently found a couple of orphaned kittens on site. My reaction: "Oooh, road trip *and* rescue! Oh wait. No. Can't do that."

I keep trying to lure you away on road trips, sometimes to romantic foreign locales... ideally with you in one of those retro dresses. Listening to Ryan Adams, even. Except the reliance, self thing keeps you from letting me sweep you off your feet somewhere?
