Jun. 13th, 2009 05:38 pm[Edit: Apparently my mail.com forwarding service expired, and they neglected to say anything or the notice got lost. I've got a ton of mail sitting in my inbox over there, which I never check because hey, I have it forwarding and deleting email. As much of a pain as it is to change addresses, it might be worth it to just start using one I don't have to pay for forwarding service from.]
Apparently I'm just not getting a bunch of mail; most of it is stuff that forwards from my mad.scientist forwarder to Gmail, but I don't think that's entirety of the problem because I am still getting plenty of other stuff sent to the forwarder. Nothing in the spam folder, nothing in trash. Things that I know I should have gotten, but haven't:
1) Any mail at all from [That Mailing List], for at least two weeks now. Yes, I've recently (last Monday) sent mail to [redacted]-request, and for all I know I've also lost the response. Like a doofus, I didn't think to say, "hey, just in case could you reply to me at Gmail?"
2) Library notifications. I just happened to log on for something else yesterday to discover that I've lost a book I had on hold because the 3-day hold period that I wasn't aware had started expired yesterday (when the library closed before I even got off work).
4) Facebook message notifications
5) Fetlife message notifications
6) Twitter follower notifications (Not a big annoyance, since I've always got Joule to keep track of these things. If you're someone I know and you followed me recently but I hadn't followed you back, it's because I had no idea.)
Livejournal notifications, which follow the same forwarder path, are getting through. At least enough of them that I can say that it seems to be working as advertised.
These are just things that I can specifically account for; who knows how much else is getting lost? I'm all for cutting down on the constant flow of stuff into my inbox, but I'd kind of like to be the one deciding what gets in, y'know?
PS - Hooray for Nyquil, my little medicinal friend. I slept until 2 PM today, and am feeling noticeably better.

interesting problem
Date: 2009-06-14 12:12 am (UTC)What kind of fowarder is mad scientist? is this from mad.scientist.com or some kind of domain setup you did with google?
There are a number of things to check but I'm kind of hamstrung on info since I don't know where the starting forward is. My suspicion is that the first forwarders antispam testing is dumping the messages.
