Do people go to Seattle and remark on the lovely view of the Potomac?

On the Yellow Line metro coming into the city, a large group of tourists with children fresh from the airport remark about the sights coming into view:

Boy 1: "Whoa! Look! What's that?"
Mom: "Oh, it's the Washington Monument! Wow! Look kids!"
Kids: "Whoa...!"
Boy 2: "Hey look, what's that one?"
Mom: "Ahh, I think that's the Lincoln Memorial."
Kids: "Whoa...!"
Boy 2: "Hey, what river is this that we're crossing?"
Boy 3: "Yeah, it's a really wide river. What is it?"
Mom: "I don't know, maybe Puget Sound? Yeah, Puget Sound, I think that's right."

In less depressing news: DC Summer Restaurant Week will be August 6-12. I suspect there will probably be another outing to the fabulous Butterfield 9 in my future, assuming finances allow by that point.

From DCist:
Metro:
Tourist dad talking to kids after a day of museum and monument hopping.
Dad: "So, what did you kids learn today?"
Kid #1: "Nothing"
Dad: "Really? But we went to the Air and Space museum, WWII Memorial...[continues on with list of museums]"
Kid #2: "Um, I learned that other countries better listen to us or we'll bomb them"
Pentagon:
Following a massive pizza party...
Enlisted Soldier: "Sir, do you know what sardines look like?"
Officer: [bewildered pause] "Uhhhh, yeah... why?"
Enlisted Soldier: "This pizza box has 'Sardinia' written on it and I don't want sardines on my pizza. It has white meat on it that looks like chicken, though."
Officer: "Sardinia has nothing to do with sardines. It's just the name of the pizza. They name their pizzas after locations. Sardinia is a small island off the coast of India."
