Anyone want a 30% off coupon good today (Nov. 15) in store at Old Navy/Gap/Banana Republic? If so, leave me an email address to send it to in comments (screened); I can send up to 24 more. I tried it out today and it is good on sale and clearance items (so all told we ended up with a total 50% discount what with sale items, woohoo!), you just can't combine it with other coupons. Also, when you get the coupon you can choose one of several charities and 5% of your total will be donated to them. Donorschoose.org and Feeding America are two of the options, don't remember who the others were offhand. [Edit: It looks like the charity I picked, Feeding America, is what's assigned to you as well when I send the coupon.]

Did one of y'all point me at Paper Street Teas? I just got an email saying that they're closing down the shop (I believe at the end of August) and offering a 40% discount on orders for anything left in stock, using the code 4TEA.

For the first time ever, I managed to both remember it was farmers market day and get out of the house in time to get to the Burke Farmers Market; granted, I didn't get there until half an hour before they closed, but still. (Why are so many farmers markets locally scheduled from like 8-noon on Tuesday mornings when people, y'know, have to go to work?) I took $20 with me, and returned with a big bunch of radishes, three cucumbers, a bit more than a pint of yellow cherry tomatoes (well, somewhat less than a pint now OM NOM NOM), four bell peppers of the purple and yellow varieties, good-sized green and white acorn squash, and a wedge of chipotle cheddar cheese. I passed on the apples this time; this is the time of year that you can drive out towards Shenandoah and buy apples at the local roadside stands, so you get both tasty locally-grown apples *and* a road trip. The remaining $4 or so from my $20 bill went into the Obama/Biden donations jar, so a bumper sticker is also technically part of my haul. Let's see if people can refrain from vandalizing my car this time.

It is a glorious day today; if you're local, you should really consider heading outside. I think I'm going to do some housecleaning until C. wakes up (or I wake him up) and then maybe go to Burke Lake or some other spot I can putter around outdoors.

Two things completely unrelated to the farmers market or even each other:

What if Raffi started a hardcore punk band?

A few places to snag free grocery coupons, which may require you to download a browser plugin to print them out:
  • Redplum
  • SmartSource
  • Coupons.com
  • Coolsavings - You have to register for a free account to get to the coupons; hooray for unlimited traceable email addresses attached to my domain!  Looking right now, the grocery coupons appear to be the same as the SmartSource coupons, which doesn't require signup.
  • Mambo Sprouts - Organic and natural products.  Currently they only offer coupon books in the mail and at places like Whole Foods, but they're working on offering downloadable coupons ("Fall 2008").

Known counterfeit coupons

MyGroceryDeals
posts sales from local grocery store flyers rather than coupons.  You've got to pony up a little bit of demographic information  to get the local flyers (see above expression of joy about unlimited traceable addresses), and of course you can always go directly to the store websites individually instead.

Internet coupon policies for local grocery chains:

Here's what, if anything, I could find out about the printable internet coupon acceptance policies of Wegmans, Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter, Shoppers Food Warehouse, Wal-Mart, Target, Bloom/Food Lion/Bottom Dollar, Whole Foods )

If any of y'all already do or are planning to use restaurant.com, there's currently a discount code for 50% off the purchase of $25 certificates, good through Sunday night. Enter code "LIBERTY" in your cart, and you'll get $25 coupons for $5 instead of the usual $10.
