This is a major brand that must LOOK and OPERATE like a major brand.

ABOUT US;
I have hit several MAJOR financial home-runs on the internet.
We expect to pay $500 or less based on our generous offer to share the wealth and ownership of this million dollar brand. [emphasis mine] Bring it in ontime and your firm will receive a bonus of 10% ownership in the venture. Further details are available via message board.
I can make you wealthy if you want to take the shot. No gimmicks or tricks. You will be able to agree to the terms BEFORE any final agreement is signed. This current project is so solid, I have been offered over $1,000,000 just for the domain name! The selected winner will also have the first right to build 8 other projects! You MUST be able to build the entire site from design to delivery. Don't miss this opportunity. Only 1 entity will get it. Why work for a few thousand dollars when you can have a much bigger piece of the pie?!?

In other words, "I [MADE] MONEY FAST ON THE INTERNET, but I'm not giving any of it to you. In fact, you have the opportunity to pay ME so that you can work on my website. In return, I'll give you an opportunity to lose even more cash when my venture tanks."

I'd say that $40,000 is a good start for the first half of the list... :-)

It cost UPS about one million to build it's new/current site. So I would say that 400,000 would be closer to what these guys are asking for. But since they don't need online database access giving current status of something constantly changing, I'd bid $100,000.
