Friday night [livejournal.com profile] nminusone and I met up with a whole host of folks to say hi to [livejournal.com profile] rednikki and [livejournal.com profile] mycranium1, who were in town for the weekend. I'm pretty sure I never caught the names of the folks on the far end of the table that I didn't already know, but I think [livejournal.com profile] chadu has a list over at his place. One idea that was strongly reinforced during the course of the evening: the world, she is very, very small.

Post-dinner, a few of us went to see the new Indiana Jones movie. It wasn't fantastic movie-making, but I thought it was a perfectly enjoyable Indiana Jones flick. I like that they acknowledge the fact that Indy's 20 years older now.

Saturday was a run to the used bookstore and the new-ish coffee house a few doors down. I went in to pick up a book for someone that I told them I'd snag for them, but still managed to come out with a Georgette Heyer and "The Man in the Iron Mask" for myself in addition to that one book I went in for. *facepalm* I may have to start a book restriction like I have on shoes: if I bring a new pair of shoes into the house, I need to get rid of an existing pair because I just don't have enough room. I either need to move bookshelves down into the den where there's space to add more shelves or I need to stop buying books for a while. Since the den feels kind of damp, I suspect the better idea is to go with plan B. Date with Chad in the evening, but home early and I passed out fairly early myself.

Sunday was glorious, and I would've gone out to Skyline Drive for a bit of a hike to enjoy the sunshine or maybe a road trip to Green Valley (except for the bit above, about being out of shelf space for more books) except for having plans mid-afternoon. Those got cancelled (for a perfectly good and understandable set of reasons, I acknowledge); the last-minute nature and the fact that I'd put off other things that were now impossible given the lateness of the hour left me a bit annoyed. I channeled the cranky into doing a bit of cleanup in the back yard and did some cleaning in the den section of the basement so that I can set up my craft/sewing stuff and the exercise equipment, so something good did come out of it.

Yesterday was a bit more carpet-cleaning in the den (Thanks, Gateway. :-P), and then out to celebrate [livejournal.com profile] lionessindc's birthday with mini-golf and dinner at Sakura. It was great to see her and the other folks I haven't seen in a while, and it was really great to see P. again. Dinner conversation revealed to me that my next vacation really needs to be Wyoming in August. Muahahahaha!

I was so close to calling in today; my sinuses have been draining for two weeks, and the coughing is keeping me from sleeping very well. I should make a doctor's appointment to get a refill on my albuterol and another prescription for an Advair diskus, and maybe see if I can get some of the Really Good allergy drugs (if such things exist); the OTC Claritin just doesn't seem to be working for me this year. Coworker called in today with allergy-related trouble as well, so I'd have been extra-screwed if I'd not come in today. I'm sorely tempted to say "screw it" and go home for a nap anyway because I have the dumb and I can't brain.

Gateway and hair balls, eh?

I keep wondering if you're office is infested with mold in the walls or something... given the adverse responses there. Hope it gets better.

Ugh. I get the coughing and sinuses thing. Two weeks? Ew. Go home and feel better.
