One of the things I planned to do today was go by Jiffy Lube and get my overdue oil change. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this outpost had CNN on rather than the usual Faux News. Yeah, well, it was clearly too good to last. There was a guy in there who was busy watching Richardson's speech in support of Obama and ranting at length about how "he's a communist" (it's true, he "read it on the blogs") and "nobody bothers to do their own research or they'd never support him" (I bet that came from the blogs too) and "with a recession, I wonder how it is that he's raising so much damn money". Hey look, my own live version of a Fox talking head that I can't mute. Awesome. I had hoped the fact that neither of the other two of us sitting in the waiting area were taking his bait might give him a clue that we weren't interested, but no. Rant continues, getting increasingly unhinged. Thank god it isn't raining today, because that meant I could wait outside and watch as other people decided they'd had enough too and stepped out the door.

On a less annoying note, it is a gorgeous day, and after being in the office til 9:45 last night (power loss, babysitting generators) I have today free. Now I just need to figure out what else to do with it, preferably something involving being outside.

Actually those talking heads have a mute button too. Just below the larynx.
