Buckethead ROCKS . I think my boyfriend and I have all of their Cd's. And I'm now, after listening to half of that song, addicted to Dragon Force.

*cry* See, you got all the left-brainedness, and I got all the right-brainedness, mixed up with a hefty helping of dyscalculia. I look at the McSweeney's article with the Excel instructions, and it just looks like a knitting pattern (I don't knit, either, for similar reasons), and I know that if I followed the instructions with glacial slowness, I probably could make it work. I still prefer this very old-school method:

1. Find an existing sestina.

2. Copy down the pattern of end words, including the envoi.

c. Put down existing sestina. Take pattern. Write my own.

And yes, that list goes 1, 2, c. ;)

I know way too many engineers

s/know/dated, and that describes part of what was so very odd about my Penn State experience. (One of them introduced me to the Grateful Dead, and in fact took me to my first show, so I'm not complaining.)

Indeed, perhaps it's because I'm 4'11.5" and therefore perceive anybody else as "tall" that I also perceive anybody who can count as "strong with the math-fu." (Wrong task for me? Counting brackets in Lisp.) But if you can do MySQL, and are considering going to -- and would comprehend -- a benchmarking workshop, between the two of us, trust me, you got the left brain!

I thought I recognized it! I enjoy bands like Nightwish, Therion (new one to me) Hammerfall and Kamelot, so Dragonforce is right up my alley.

Your Buckethead link confused me for a second - turns out I was mixing them up with The Bucketheads - not the same thing at all...
