*facepalm* I just read "drought-hurt farmers" as "doughnut farmers". Then I spent a moment picturing the vast doughnut fields of the Midwest stretching as far as the eye could see, a patchwork of alternating glazed, cake, and jam-filled breakfast treats. Then I realized that I haven't had lunch yet, and all became clear.

They're kind of like poultry. Certainly you've heard the expression "with flying crullers"?

I'm suddenly seized with the idea of trying to convince my brother that doughnuts and bagels are grown as separate crops.

"It’s a long John, it’s long gone,/ Like the turkey and the corn..."

OK, I think I'm done hijacking this post...

That explains the song!

"O beautiful for spacious skies /
for amber waves of glazed."

Though amber glaze could easily be vanilla, which is suspect. If you're going to bother glazing a donut it should be chocolate all the way. ;)

What does it say about me that I, also, read it the way you did?

*sigh*

Now I want a donut!

read your twitter about Arisia. sneephle? what's up?

if transportation is issue, contact [livejournal.com profile] flyingwolf. [If you don't already know her, you should!] She vends, is therefore driving, and can create a seat for a ride-sharer.

Hey, I may live in the country, but I work 5x/week in Oakton. Lunch sometime?

Regarding jobbishness...not eligible to apply for clearance? again, sneephle...

Ah...

Understood on all three.

Well, if you decide you want to consider career options in the Federal space, after all, let me know.

Ok that made me laugh out loud for several minutes trying to picture farmers tending to their fields of doughnuts. Thank you for that :)
