7-Eleven made over as a Kwik-E-Mart (this one is in Burbank)

Several of the stores are getting makeovers as a tie-in with The Simpsons movie coming out later this month. Sadly, the closest one to me is in Bladensburg, and I am not driving 50 miles to the wilds of Maryland just to get a squishee and a Radioactive Man comic book at Kwik-E-Mart. Maybe though for a squishee, the comic book, and a pink donut. Mmmm...forbidden donut.

Wait, I've seen people mention this before, but this is the first clue I've had that Kwik-E-Mart is not a real-life chain. Is that true?

I seem to recall seeing the odd store with a similar name, but it's not a chain so far as I know.

Yes, that's it exactly; it's being done as part of a tie-in with the upcoming movie. They're also temporarily adding in some merchandise from the show, like squishees (the Kwik-E-Mart equivalent of 7-Eleven's Slurpee frozen drink).

If I happen to be in Bladensburg already, I'll stop by. I have, however, managed to not be in Bladensburg for any reason at any time in the last 15 years (at least so far as I remember), so I doubt I'm going to start now.

I am impressed by how totally they're embracing the whole satire. Going through the photoset linked above, there were some fabulous touches. (Tomorrow's pastries at today's prices!)
