Very slight hangover resulting from last night's spontaneous trip to Total Wine for beer and sake. Next time, drink even more water. Abita Turbodog? Tasty, I think I'll be getting more of that. Coppola's Sofia blanc de blancs? Tastes like ass. And I say this as someone who generally has no problem drinking wine from a box or on occasion from a jug bigger than my head. I got suckered in by the hysterical packaging: it comes in a pink can with a straw. Yeah, I didn't expect wine in a can with a straw to be good, but I didn't expect it to be quite that bad. The general consensus after a single sip was "pour it out". Bleh.

We passed a small carnival on the way to get our drink on, and I was suddenly overcome by a desire to ride the ferris wheel and grab some food on a stick. Sadly, it was pouring buckets and kind of cold, so no joy there. And no going back today, because it's pouring even bigger buckets and still cold. Plus the "food on stick" compulsion has passed; instead, I have salteñas waiting for me after I get back from grocery shopping. There's always the Celebrate Fairfax Festival coming up soon to allow for scary food on sticks and ferris wheels and fireworks.

Today: rehydrating, some Aleve, grocery shopping, returning rented DVD, cleaning the kitchen, and dinner with [livejournal.com profile] brian1789, who's in town this week for a meeting. Sadly, no time in there for a nap; I think perhaps I'll try for an early night instead. Right then, time to get moving.

The general consensus after a single sip was "pour it out".

My cousin and I had the same experience with Budweiser Select, right after it came out. It was on sale, and Jimmy bought a twelve-pack. A couple sips, and he says "You know, I think this is the foulest beer I've ever tasted! Here, try some!". I try some, and "you know, I think you may be right!". Then we poured the rest of the can into the dog's bowl (he likes beer) and he didn't care for it either.

Budweiser Select: Beer so foul, even my dog wouldn't drink it.

My brother used to be the Georgia-Alabama-Carolinas sales rep for Abita, and used to recommend TurboDog to me... I figured it was merely product promotion and didn't take him seriously ;). Maybe he was right...

You're sweet to let me come over and do laundry. =)

The Abita man can!

Not only that, but tall, relatively good looking and with a wicked sense of humor. Unfortunately, he's also a Braves fan. Nobody's perfect.

Can Purple Haze count as a milk stout? ;)

*grin* I have an Abita bottle opener on my keychain. The guy who "invented" their Purple Haze now works for N.O. Rum and my dad is on the board there. Fun stuff. Fun people. Good alcohol.

I could have sworn I saw the Sofia in a bottle somewhere... but maybe not.

Sparkling wine. in a can. NOT SO NICE.

This is up there on the sucktacular scale along with the neon colored malt liquor enhanced party drink they're trying to get banned in Mass (because the marketing is so obviously targeted towards underage drinkers).

*twitch*

Don't ever drink wine through a straw. If you have to consume it straight from the bottle.
