Random Monday notes

The drawback to having a three day weekend is that I come back to 300 new messages in my inbox that need dealing with. Luckily, most don't actually require me to do more than skim them. [Edit: In the last hour (between 11 and noon), I've gotten over 100 additional new messages. Guh!]
I've been very bad about commenting lately. I skim my f-list and half the time don't even remember what it was I read less than an hour ago, and the posts I put aside to reply to later just never get taken care of. My thoughts are with the several of you who are dealing with various health issues, and I hope the recent birthdays were most excellent. Even if I haven't commented, I am thinking about you.
Speaking of commenting, thank you to everyone who offered opinions on Vonage. I'm also looking at the possibility of switching over to FiOS; if I drop down to Verizon's $10/month plan, then we can (theoretically, I'd have to check the true prices) get a faster 'net connection, what's essentially DirecTV and phone service for about the price of our current cable bill. FiOS doesn't actually save any money on your phone bill, it just transfers your service over to their fibre optic cabling; if we don't end up saving a significant amount of money, it's not really worth it to make the switch. On the other hand, with FiOS I can get BBC America, which aptly-named Cox at last investigation made you buy digital cable and a multi-channel package including crap like the Game Show Network to receive.
Also on the commenting thing, I've turned IP logging back on for anonymous posts, so essentially the "tell me a secret" post is closed. (Unless you don't care if your IP address is logged, of course.) I've been wanting to comment on so many of them, but I haven't been able to come up with the right words. There's a lot of sadness out there on my friends list, it seems; me being me, I'd love to find some way to make everything better. I can't, of course, but I would do it in a minute if I could (and you wanted me to).
I've observed that my boyfriend has excellent taste in women. =) (Equally true for both of them, in fact.)
Difficult (for me) conversation last night that I think went well. Difficult in the sense that I have a very hard time talking directly about my thought processes in this context, not because it was a particularly fraught conversation.
It seems I'll be in Boston the weekend of March 10 to see The Pogues. w00t! No idea if I'll have time to see anyone other than my kind and generous host, it'll depend on energy levels and whether I drive or take the train and thus am stuck on Amtrak's schedule. At best, maybe there'd be a lunch foo someplace, but I can't commit to organizing such a thing right yet.

Now, time for yet another 2-hour concall. Welcome back to work. =/
