I'm actually looking forward to the Great Network Renumbering as we switch access providers. No, really. It's just a small network, shouldn't take more than a couple of days. And I get to rebuild our server which I'm pretty sure has been broken into at least once. That will be fun, and the renumbering will be something to do. I desperately need something to do. I want more contracts. I don't want to have to find another job for someone other than E. I don't want to put myself through the soul-crushing experience of interviewing again. (I've never once gotten a job that I had to competitively interview for. Ever. I just can't do it well.) But I'm bored witless and I won't be able to go without income for a whole lot longer. I've still got still about 5 months worth of reserve saved up, but that's not a lot and it assumes no more travel, and very little non-bill spending. E. was going to start serious marketing again once we move the machines over, I hope something pans out.
Once I get back the money I lent for tax payments, I think I'm going to schedule myself a training class. If I'm lucky I'll find a Solaris admin training class from Sun on eBay, although all I normally see is their intro to Solaris classes which are a bit too basic. All my admin experience has been with Solaris and I'd like to keep it that way. I think I'm finding myself leaning more towards doing admin work and away from doing development work anymore, although I still sort of enjoy it. If I can keep doing it with no customer contact, I'm golden. =)
