Well, my host restored my website. Unfortunately, that's pretty much all they restored. Anything in my top-level home directory is missing, as are the contents of a user directory I set up for a friend for picture hosting. To top it off, my most recent backups using their tools all seem to be unreadable files. Yeah, my fault for not testing them. The blog posts and comments are all screwed up or missing altogether, although I think that's probably a rewrite issue that I need to go fix since they appear to be in the database.
Screw this. I'm not going to sit at the computer all day on my last real day of vacation. They'll have copies and restore them for me or they won't, nothing I can do about it myself. I'm going to go try and run off the downy woodpecker I can hear out on the deck (the little guy's doing a real number on one of the posts), shower, then gas up the car and go find a park or someplace I can go take a walk. Then I'm going to go duckpin bowling with some friends tonight. I suck at it, but it'll be fun, damnit. And then I'll have the whole weekend to angst about having to go back to the office on Monday and wade through 1200 or so emails waiting for me. (I'm not kidding, I had 267 new messages on Tuesday morning when I peeked in to check on something.)
