What I did on the first non-holiday day of my week-long vacation

Saw "Invincible" last night; not a serious fan of football in general or the Eagles in particular, but I liked it quite a lot. Proceeded to stay up puttering on LJ and then reading some George Pelecanos until 3:30 AM. Overslept by half an hour, then rounded up the cat and dumped him in the carrier with Chris' help. Realized that crap, I made a vet appointment for 10 AM in Leesburg on one of the worst possible traffic days, and it's raining; I should've left at 9, not 9:17. Went to the cardiologist, got Gateway's ultrasound done for the year and a refill prescription for his atenolol, didn't fall over in shock at the bill (but it was difficult), bought the cat a grilled chicken sandwich on the way home to make amends for for putting him in the carrier and letting strange people mess with the fuzzy kitty belly, and am now trying to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my day.

I'm toying with the idea of trekking in for tonight's BR presentation to catch up with the lovely and talented presenters, since I'll actually be able to head downtown at a reasonable hour.

Definitely considering it, seeing as how this is my chance to get down there without being insanely rushed. =) Not sure if nminusone will be joining me, although I don't think he will.

Yeah, good plan. =) Just call the cell instead of the home number, and if I'm in transit and can catch the call I'll pick up.

And... I'm happy that Gateway got a clean bill of health. About the same time as my car, and probably with a similar almost-four-figure pricetag... (wry grin)

Well, as clean as can be expected. He's still got hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, that's not going away, but it's being managed very well by his meds and his heart murmur has shown noticeable improvement in the last few years. And no, not quite as expensive as your car; it was only in the low- to mid-three figures. =) Plus, I only have to do this once a year, not once a month. ;) *duck*

On the whole, Gateway may be more healthy than Vincent. And I'm glad it was Gateway, when I first saw "cardiologist" I went "Ack!" Of course, that's what context is for : )
