The last time I saw the late, lamented Warren Zevon was at the Birchmere. He was doing a solo acoustic show, and even with a full band he never generally got a very dance-y crowd, so it wasn't the worst setting for the material. But it was still a pretty far cry from the somewhat more raucous venues where I'd usually seen him play, and he definitely noticed it, to the point of making the little "please be quiet during performance" signs a running joke throughout the evening.
*sigh* I think I need to go eat a sandwich now. And treasure it, of course. It's what he'd have wanted.
