Since my last books post (actually, most of this was over the course of the last weekend), I've added:

  1. The Rule of Four, Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. All the reviews compared it to The Da Vinci Code, and I guess in some sense it is sort of like Mr. Brown's book -- except for being much better written. Mmm, geeky mysteries.

  2. V for Vendetta, Alan Moore and David Lloyd. Of course I had to finally get around to reading this so I could see what they manage to do with the movie.

  3. Kushiel's Chosen, Jacqueline Carey. Mmm, political intrigue, pirates and kinky sex.

Plus, on the comic book front there was the third issue of "The Book of Lost Souls" (number five is out as of last week, must remember to go get it) and up through "Neverwhere" #6.

And that puts me back on track, mostly, for getting to at least 50 books this year.

I find the Kushiel books to be the greatest beach reading of all time--not pure genius, not an accurate portrayal of masochism or sex work, but damn, they are a fun, good read!

I'm so frustrated that I can't read Hamilton anymore-I'm so hard to please for trashy novels and having a series go so far downhill that I can't even stomach it is dreadful...will no-one think of the perverts?

Not accurately kinky? Hmmm... here I was, thinking that those books were the sort of thing that certain friends and sweeties were into. Minus the royal trappings, invaders and intrigue, of course... (wink)

Well, plot kinky yes, but I'm just saying if you're expecting this at BR or NELA you might be disappointed (ie, very little aftercare, etc)-but it's a romanceadventurey novel, so it's fine:)

Would you be interested in loaning "Kushiel's Chosen"? I've got the 3rd in the series (Kushiel's Avatar) but not the 2nd, we could trade off for awhile.

Yep, got the first and the third, but not the one in the middle. Great planning, huh? :P

Remind me next time we find we're both going to be at the same place and I'll bring it :)

I read The Rule of Four, as well. Had a certain ring of the Hardy Boys to it.
