geekchick: (thinking)

Things I want out of this year:

  • To feel excited about my job again, or to figure out what it really is I want to do when I grow up.
  • To find something I'm excited to study and learn about; I miss that "y'know, this is REALLY COOL" feeling that I used to get when I found something that interested me.
  • To try to develop my creativity; I know I have some somewhere, I just need to coax it out.
  • To get my debt under control and paid down. Can't pay it all off this year, but I can make some progress on it.
  • To actually use all of my PTO this year (other than sick leave).
  • A fishing trip.
  • Travel.
  • To finally coordinate schedules with a friend after a year and a half of trying (on and off).
  • To live someplace that feels comfortable and doesn't have major structural damage.
  • That my pets have no more major medical issues.
  • To keep the major depression at bay.
  • To feel comfortable in my skin.
  • To conquer my phobia and save up to get the dental work that I need done.
  • To try to be less of a hermit and be more social.

Your first two items are where I am right now. Kind of why I feel like I'm in a bit of a holding pattern until Dan's done with school - I don't want to change jobs while he's in school, because of the financial uncertantity and the strong possibility that I'd not find the same pay rate if I went off on a tangent rather than doing what I do now.

The second one is the most troubling for me - I've always been a learner, and right now nothing's calling out to me. I'm pretty burned out on keeping my MCSE updated, and I am kinda-sorta interested in learning linux, but I'm really getting burned out on the whole IT thing. Maybe I should go back to programming :-)

Sheesh, it is all about me, isn't it ;-)

When you figure out how to do these two, or get inspired, please share :-)

We're way too much alike, I think. Must be how we seem to attract certain men... ;-)

I quit tying this stuff to the calendar some time ago, but your goals look reasonable to me. On your first item, I also gave up the when I grow up part. I'm a grown-up in some respects (trying to be responsible where required), but in others it has negative connotations of someone who no longer has fun.

You know what I did/am trying to do similarly to your 2nd item.

As for your last item, come visit!! *coax, coax* ;-)

Indeed. Actually, it's at least a threesome (I say "at least" because Toni may be the handy photographer's assistant :-)), as I should be there, too. ;-)

Anytime we can coordinate schedules, you're welcome to come here. No clue when I'll be able to get there next, but ya never know. :-)

I can try to help you with 5,6,7 and 15... :)

What kind of fishing? I never knew that that interested you. Except perhaps in mountain streams around Colorado Springs...

(nods) 14, right.

(thinks vaguely of deep-sea charter boats in FL...)

My sister and brother-in-law have a 104 acres near Seymour, IN with three stocked ponds. ;-)
