jrittenhouse points out that the list of donors to the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation is up for sale via " the nation's best and most comprehensive source of mailing lists for conservative and Christian mailers and tele-marketers". I know I'd certainly feel like my support was valued (to the tune of roughly $0.024) if I was one of those donors.

I'm of the opinion that the GOP leadership (and their top poltical operatives) has utterly sold out and is simply manipulating their base to maintain power. So this doesn't surprise me.

There are some stirrings of rebellion among the GOP base. I think this whole brouhaha is an attempt to quiet the religious conservative portion of that base.
