I will not spend all day playing with the new Mac. Won't. I have actual work to do, and I will do it. Uh huh, sure.

Did you get it?!?

I'm thinking of buying a couple as low-end ftp servers... they look stackable, and the small footprint and lack of monitor and keyboard is a plus.

Probably, except that the project lead CS uses a Powerbook and expects seamless integration, and using another MacOS box works slightly more smoothly for her than commodity-Linux.

Although if budgets continue to auger-in here, we could be scrounging rather than buying *any* new hardware.

This is the Spanish drilling project... and virtually every computer is either a Mac or is x86/Red Hat. The latter being drill or embedded instrument control computers. Windows only exists on some individuals' laptops...

I so envy you! ;-)

Oh, I would love to double click your mini!

Too bad the mouse has only one button, though. On my computer I have to use at least 3 fingers to give my mouse a satisfying workout...

[identity profile] zuggy9.livejournal.com 2005-02-07 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
heh, with time, patience and determination, I can get any mouse worked up and clicking away.

y'know, I've had a few guys try to get me to play with their trackballs, and it's never really suited me that much. I'm mean I do fine with my own trackball... but I'd much rather be working a nice curvy mouse.

But I am into open source, so who knows?

Sure, sure. I'm just saying it's better to keep all my fingers occupied whenever possible. You know the saying about somebody making dirty work for idle digits...

i thought the mini sold completely without any trace of monitor, keyboard, OR mouse?
