Dec. 10th, 2004 03:23 pmI know I've posted a link to the Book a Minute site before, but it deserves repeating. Ultra-condensed versions of all sorts of books. For example:
The Collected Work of Isaac Asimov
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, Unbeliever
The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress
The Eye of the World (If only "condensed" were actually in Robert Jordan's vocabulary, I might not've given up about halfway through the series.)

Date: 2004-12-10 05:08 pm (UTC)I read most of the second. I read only the parts with Nynaeve in them, and the ending of the third. By the fourth, halfway through, I found myself even skimming Nynaeve's sections, and I decided I would try to predict the ending. Rather than write it down, I jumped straight to the end, confirmed my suspicions and threw the book across the room, in the vague direction of the garbage can.
:P
One of the few books I gave up on partway through. I will even read cereal boxes to the end, for the most part.
But thank you for the link.

Date: 2004-12-10 05:52 pm (UTC)I loved the one for "Splinter of the Mind's Eye".
I felt similarly about "Interview with a Vampire" except I would have added:
Reader: *yawns widely, puts down book in search of something to eat, never bothers to come back*
But that's just me. *g*
