Just thought I'd let you know that having this here did me some good. I was mildly curious what house rental prices are in this area, but since I have no plans to move in the near future, I would never have done the legwork myself.

Well then, glad I could help. =) What I was looking for was 3+ bedrooms and a garage or attached parking, which I think limits the selection somewhat (I'd settle for two bedrooms plus a den or study though). I saw listings roughly from $1350 to $2450, so there's a nice range of prices available.

Logistics? Given where C. works and where I work, we're not likely to move out of this general area. I'm mostly confining the search to Fair Lakes/Fairfax, Reston and Herndon, *maybe* Chantilly, or Tyson's if we could find any place in our price range there. (It could happen. Not likely, but it could happen.) If you're wondering if we're moving to Maryland, not going to happen. I was fine with the idea until I realized it would be at minimum a 100 mile a day commute for me, in very heavy traffic.

I'm currently paying $1750 for a 3 1/2 bdr (long story including knocking down a wall starting from an unusual layout) 2 bath including lawn care by the owner, but only outdoor parking, so that gives me a sense that it's already in the ballpark of right which might be good to know when it comes time to renew.
