Jessica Lynch's authorized biography debunks the military's version of the story of her rescue. (Washington Post site, may ask you for demographic info.)

Passengers recount moments of dread over Dulles. A flight to National was diverted to Dulles yesterday when a warning light indicated the landing gear on the right side of the plane was stuck. This is mostly interesting to me because several of the passengers insist they remember a sequence of events during the landing that the pilot said did not actually happen.

Some Fairfax County parents want to form a charter school for autistic children.

Wesley Clark's campaign is set to unveil the Clark Community Network, "an integrated system of blogs and web tools [..] [b]ased on the 'collaborative media' software that powers the open-submission website Kuro5hin".

Part of me says that would be a bad idea: the children need to be exposed to "normal" kids, and the "normal" kids need to learn to be compassionate to people who are different from themselves. Of course, there is a tendency around here to put them in Special Ed classes which is sort of isolating and I really don't want my kids to be an object lesson for anyone.

Most of me says this would be a great idea: it would allow the kids to receive the attention they need to remain where they should be academically. You could also work social skills classes into the curriculum, depending upon what level of functionality the children had.
