Today is Boomtime, day 10 in the season of The Aftermath, 3269.

The sun is out for the first time in three days, and I'm getting glare off of a white truck parked outside my window. I'm feeling better already.

Sorting one's iTunes library in alphabetical order by track is almost as good as hitting shuffle. Parts of what's played, in order, so far (2.4 days worth left!):

  • "Alchemy Mondays" - Voltaire
  • "All My Shootin's Be Drive-bys" - MC Hawking
  • "All Tomorrow's Parties" - June Tabor and Oysterband
  • "Alternative Polka" - Weird Al
  • "American Bad Ass" - Kid Rock
  • "Anatano Ichibann Ni Naritai (Martian Successor Nadesico)" - Ultra Anime Eurobeat Series
  • "Andromeda and the Milky Way - Me'Shell Ndegeocello
  • "Antmusic" - Adam and the Ants

Some people have taken the idea that "if you're going to post a rant, please don't let pesky things like facts and accuracy get in your way" far too much to heart. (This is not meant to be indirect communication with anyone likely to be reading this.)

Mastering mod_rewrite is truly one of the dark arts and probably requires a much bigger sacrifice than anything I happen to have on hand in the office. Wonder what I'd get for sacrificing a rubber chicken?

Why on earth do I need to be protected from pornography? They also could use a proofreader, who might have caught that they left a word in as "exploi-ta-tion". Or was that intentionally left in because Bush can't handle words more than three syllables long?

Watching last night's "Nova" episode on string theory would've been even nicer if I hadn't had someone in the room ranting about how the proponents are complete crackpots. For that, I missed "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"?

Yes, but did the person ranting have a lower crackpot index than the people on the Nova show?

2.3 days worth... you must have recatalogued and transferred most of your online collection!

You need "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" on video or DVD. I think they have a box set that includes "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving". : D

Why on earth do I need to be protected from pornography?

Yeah, I'm still trying to sort that one out too - I love these pop-up ads that cry "You might have pornography on your computer!" (well, yes - and I put it there, dammit!)

Just another attempt to get rid of something because it makes a few folks uncomfortable, but of course they'll trot out the famous "it's for the childen!" excuse :(

Not sure yet - I'm putting out the call to get an idea of what people are (or are not) bringing so I can send D. out to the grocery Friday. So far all we've got is chili, so just about anything else!
