Oysters gig
Jul. 17th, 2003 08:51 pmHey
mrph, seen this?
Hello again
Next winter, Oysterband will have been hanging in there for 25 years, which seems like a good excuse for a party. We may not have solved the world's problems, but we've surely had a lot of fun!
There will be a few special shows during the winter - more details soon, but this is advance notice that the Big One will be:
THE FORUM, KENTISH TOWN ROAD, LONDON NW5 on Friday December 12 2003. If you're thinking of going to an Oyster show this year, make it this one! Come on, what ARE you saving those Frequent Flyer points for??? (ha!)
Our birthday self-indulgence will be to have some people along that we go WAY back with. As well as Oysterband, and featuring June Tabor (for the first time since we toured "Freedom And Rain" around 1991), we'll have special guests (Acoustic) Chumbawamba, plus sundry surprises, and we plan to start the evening with a good blast of ceilidh dance music - that's where we started out, after all.
The Forum is a nice size, maybe 2000 capacity, but clearly not infinite, so (naturally) we urge you to book early. This message is going out to our mailing-lists worldwide, but first come, first served. Tickets are available direct from the band at £14 plus £1 to cover bank charges and postage to anywhere in the world = £15 per ticket in total.
Send your Visa/Mastercard/Switch/Solo number (with issue number and valid-from date where appropriate)
PLUS your name, address and the number of tickets required
TO: Running Man, PO Box 32100, London N4 1GR.
(You'll find that this is cheaper than buying from commercial ticketing agencies - not that we wish them any harm - and unlike some, we will be able to refund you the face value (£14) if you change your mind, provided we receive the tickets back from you
before December 1.)
At the moment, we're selling tickets for downstairs only. When that's full, we can start on upstairs....... And after that, we can take a good long rest.
Anyway, see you somewhere down the road, we hope -
John, Alan, Chopper, Lee, Ian xx
Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to actually make it to London this fall. =(
