Today is Boomtime, day 36 in the season of Confusion, 3269.

I'm the biggest idiot ever for even contemplating the possibility of getting within 20 miles of Rehoboth on a holiday weekend. That is *so* not happening, at least not without shelling out a couple hundred dollars a night or more. On to the next potential plan...

I've picked up books again, which is a Good Thing. In the last week I've finished The Da Vinci Code (The Prieuré de Sion and Opus Dei and the Grail, oh my!) and Fluke, realized that I absolutely cannot try to read The Structure of Scientific Revolutions before bed (tried three times, each time I ended up waking up at 4 am with my face in my book and the light still on), and am trying to switch gears a bit now to read Nexus: Small Worlds and the Groundbreaking Theory of Networks. That latter is as high in the queue as it is mostly because B&N was beyond sold out of Harry Potter and I picked this up instead. ;)

You are trying to read Kuhn? Before bed? Well, that's one way to fall asleep quickly.

I've finished The Da Vinci Code and Fluke

So how were each of those? Just picked up The Da Vinci Code and I haven't touched it yet. [livejournal.com profile] computerchix just finished Lamb and has put it on my "to-read" pile, and I was also wondering about Fluke.

The Da Vinci Code (The Prieuré de Sion and Opus Dei and the Grail, oh my!)

Years ago there was a *cough* allegedly nonfiction book called "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" which dealt with the same theories. I used to have a copy somehere.

You wanted a copy of Harry Potter? I wish you'd said something... the local Costco has had a pallet of them, on sale for $16.95 (almost half-price)... [profile] patgreene picked one up last Thursday.

Had it since I was 17, have read and re-read it numerous times. Interesting theories, though when you're discussing Biblical times and characters it's hard to know anything for certainty that far back.

I think I might try and pick up the Da Vinci Code though... libraries are wonderful things :)

There is bedtime reading, and sitting up with a cup of coffee and a pencil to take notes kind of reading. "Scientific Revolutions" definitely sounds like the latter!

Not sure what I'm doing this weekend either - if I feel well enough I might try to finally make the Folger's Elizabeth I exhibit. You interested? I could even bring the Harry Potter book!

Let me know what y'all end up doing - if we both wind up at Folger/elsewhere in town, we can trade books, definitely :) My throat is still scratchy, but by Saturday I should be well (crosses fingers).
