Aauuuuugggh!!!! Vent, vent, vent. I just spent 2+ hours trying to replace the factory-installed stereo in my 1996 Protege with a radio/CD player willed to me by C. It should by rights be a simple matter of popping off the panel and unscrewing a couple of screws, but nooooooo. So far as we can tell after dealing with it for an hour, the bottom part of the panel is attached to a larger section of the interior which would also need to be removed and we just cannot manage to get that last piece free. If anyone happens to know the sooper-sekrit trick to getting the @#% stereo out, I'd be ever so grateful if you could tell me about it. Now I've wasted two and a half hours of my day that I could've been doing something actually productive like assembling my dresser (since I'm in an apartment, I don't want to be hammering on things too late in the evening), and being twisted around in those odd positions has given me a nasty case of heartburn. Grump.
