Today is Boomtime, day 68 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3268.

Yay for days off that the rest of the area doesn't necessarily have off! I can go out and do stuff and enjoy the fact that it's cool and sunny without being swamped by everyone else doing the same thing. I'm going to go out today and maybe prowl around the Nordstrom Rack I discovered yesterday (even though I have no money) and go look for the Indian spice market I saw signs for.

I was up way too late last night/early this morning, but I had a couple of nice conversations so it was all good. Slept til 12:45 today, just need tor remember to get out of that habit tonight. Maybe melatonin around 11 or so... I've also been listening to the "O Brother Where Art Thou?" soundtrack over and over after picking it up yesterday. I think I might've enjoyed church as a young'un more if we'd had music like this. I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but being at home by myself as I am, I can warble along with Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch singing "I'll Fly Away" at high volume with no one else cringing. The only one I'm bothering right now is the cat, and since he gifted me with a big hairball right next to my bed this morning, I consider it payback.

Things to do today:
* get the cat's cardiologist to call in a prescription for his heart meds until I can afford to make another ultrasound appointment for Gateway
* that last pesky load of laundry
* find out about getting tickets for the Sing-Sing show in Philadelphia at the end of the month (too bad the Cambridge show is on a Tuesday, otherwise we could go to that one instead. Easier to take one day off and drive 2.5 hours each way than take 3 days off and drive 9). Have I mentioned how I loathe Ticketbastard?
* organize bills to be paid
* learn calculus to balance my checkbook ;)
* organize and burn a CD I promised to [livejournal.com profile] brian1789
* email owed to HWSMB

Time to get moving...

learn calculus to balance my checkbook ;)

And don't forget, it has such enduring cultural value as well...

At least I swallowed the soda before I read your post. Got to remember to do that in the future. : >

O Brother

That's a lovely soundtrack, isn't it? I grew up on that music way back in the dark ages. I interviewed a jazz musician a short while ago who was very good friends with John Hartford, who is featured on the album. I can recommend John Hartford's Aero-Plain if you like that sort of thing.

I saw Emmylou on New Year's Eve last year. What an advertisement for getting older. Gram Parsons is always fun, too.

Love the pictures. Reminds me of one I have around here somewhere....

Only worry when you have to use imaginary numbers and a foray into Hilbert space to balance.

Reminds me of an old joke

I'm sorry, but the phone number you have reached is imaginary. Please rotate your phone 90 degrees and try again.

Btw, I think that any checkbook which includes continuous functions (and calculus won't work so well for discrete variables) has way too many data points for my taste.

It really is a nice userpic - you've got that flowing redhaired Pre-Raphaelite thing going on :)

Re: "O Brother Where Art Thou" sdtk - D. picked this up when we first saw the movie and it took awhile, but it grew on me too. I NEVER used to listen to this type of music, and now I find myself listening to WAMU when it's not running NPR news and thinking "this is kinda good...."

Heh. Speaking of which, I still think that in the userpic expression, you've just noticed that Gateway threw up a hairball across the room...

You needed the melatonin tonight, I think.

Ron Howard, indeed. At least you know why I grew the beard...
