Sep. 6th, 2002 08:25 pmToday is Prickle-Prickle, day 30 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3268.
Meep. Coming up the sidewalk to my front door tonight, I passed a woman with her little boy toddling along just behind her, he couldn't have been more than 2 at the oldest. Right about the point that she and I were about even with each other, he looked up in our direction and said "Mama" in the sweetest voice I think I've ever heard. Right at that moment, I nearly changed my mind about not wanting to have kids. I think it's time to go visit the nieces and nephews and slam down that snooze button on my biological clock for another several years (I do love them dearly...from a safe distance.) Ironically, I was just talking with someone last night about how I just am not interested at this point in my life in having kids, even if I was in a relationship where it was even remotely an option.
I might however consider having Wil Wheaton's children. From http://www.wilwheaton.net/faq.php :

Will you come over to my house and tell my brother to stop leaving the toilet set up?Have I mentioned that I can't resist a smartass? *swoon*
Yes. Just as soon as you tell your mom to stop calling me. I was drunk, and it was a one time thing.
Nice place to visit, but ....

Date: 2002-09-08 11:49 am (UTC)Oh, don't I know it. =) I've found that a visit home to see my nephews and nieces for a few days always slams the snooze button on the biological clock pretty hard. They're a lot of fun, but a lot of work. I have found that the "give-back" theory has worked pretty well for me so far.
