I'm allergic to Leesburg

Today is Setting Orange, day 14 in the season of Confusion, 3268.
Well, that was special. I wasn't entirely sure I'd be able to make it out today, since on top of bad allergies at the festival yesterday I suppose my immune system was out of whack and thus spending the evening over at H. and D.'s with their three dogs gave me a pretty severe allergy attack. I woke up around 10 this morning after around 8 hours of sleep, and after being upright for 45 minutes or so and taking lots and lots of vitamins I was feeling like it might be possible to go back to the festival today. I was looking forward to spending an afternoon hanging out with G. and P. I got to the festival, did a little poking around at pretty shiny things for sale, and then boom, eyes started watering and burning to the point again where I couldn't see at all. I tried some possible remedies, but after being there for half an hour and rubbing my eyes almost the entire time we decided that I should probably leave. I don't know what it is specifically, but there's obviously something out at the venue to which I am highly sensitive. Suck. I think I'm just going to have to schedule some time with everyone from this weekend either indoors or after allergy season is over. Maybe a big group outing to see Great Big Sea?

Date: 2002-06-09 05:47 pm (UTC)I thought it was just me, but I've had itchy eyes for the last couple of days and spent the first couple of hours after I woke up today sneezing non-stop.
Glad you got to go to the festival. I was hanging out at Pride again...

Date: 2002-06-09 06:42 pm (UTC)Nope, not just you. It's weird because that's not normally how my allergies manifest themselves, but I've been having less-severe versions of these symptoms for a couple of weeks now. And my cow-orker has been having eye problems lately too.

The dog allergy thing - you mentioned it here and last night - I didn't know you were allergic! No wonder you leaned AWAY when Andy sat next to you.

Date: 2002-06-09 07:55 pm (UTC)Re: the dog allergy - I wasn't allergic to dogs particularly until relatively recently; we always had dogs when I was a kid and I had no problems. These days I seem to be allergic to dogs, other people's cats, dust, pollen, mold, a whole host of things. Last night was particularly bad, I don't normally react to the horde over there quite so much; it was definitely the worst it's ever been. I think my immune system is just run down a bit thanks to a mild cold which is why last night was so miserable for me. Yeah, I thought Andy's coming up to sit down next to me was really sweet, but it didn't help the allergies at all.
