Today is Setting Orange, day 72 in the season of Discord, 3268.

Haven't been doing too much updating lately, although I couldn't resist sharing the Andy Warhol doll. =) Trying to remain vaguely focused at work and not give in to the addiction that is TextTwist. Oh yeah, and the allergies are kicking in for sure, my eyes have been itchy and watery most of the week.

I met [livejournal.com profile] brian1789 on Monday; we went for drinks and dinner as he was in town for business. Drinks at the Ritz Carlton? Sure, twist my arm. ;) Oddly, I wasn't at all nervous about meeting right up until I stepped into the hotel lobby and made a pass through the bar to see if he was there yet. That's when nervousness kicked in, which was somewhat assuaged by the addition of a nice glass of wine and the fact that he didn't start looking at his watch within 20 minutes. ;) We had a really, really good dinner at Da Domenico; I was amused to see that my bothering to make reservations on a Monday night earned us one of the semi-private banquettes along the far wall. We got to enjoy the traditional wandering serenade by the owner, and our tux-clad waiter was really adorable (if I can say that about a man at least 20 years my senior); very animated and happy and concerned that we have an enjoyable evening. Because the restaurant was closing by the time we finally finished dinner, we walked back to the hotel for coffee and to continue our conversation. It was a lovely evening. I offered the use of my washer and dryer on Wednesday, and the three of us went to the Insane Quantities of Meat restaurant (aka Malibu Grill, the churrascaria across the street from the apartment) where I listened to the guys geek while I tried to look like I had any clue at all what they were talking about. ;) (I think I mostly failed.)

Now I think I'm pretty much socialized out for the week, I'm feeling somewhat hermit-like as far as this weekend is concerned since so much of the rest of the week was just draining. I just want to curl up on the sofa with the stack of books that I have waiting for me.

I adore text twist-but have you ever played perquackey? That is probably one of my all time favorite games.

he didn't start looking at his watch within 20 minutes. ;)

which you addressed simply by neglecting to wear a watch! And I didn't look at mine until they started closing the restaurant, hours later...

For all of the horror stories I've heard (or been told, prior to this trip) about face-to-face meeting of someone met online, in contrast this went wonderfully well IMO.

we walked back to the hotel for coffee

The Ritz has good coffee ;-). And the walk helped after a large meal.

offered the use of my washer and dryer on Wednesday

(look of profound gratitude) And introduced me to Chris as well as The Osbournes (grin)
