Worst idea ever: going to Wegmans at 12:45 on a Sunday afternoon when it's snowing.

But yay! Snow! I've been out for a walk around the lake and now I'm settled on the sofa with a toasted cheese sandwich and tomato soup, a warm blanket, and Steam Detectives on DVD. Not enough to merit a snow day tomorrow for me, although I'm sure some of the county schools will be closed, but it's really the first accumulating snowfall of the winter (and corresponding 7-car accident on the main road outside our subdivision, of course) and that's good enough for me for right now. We seem in recent years to be more likely to get dumped on in February, so I can keep my fingers crossed for that.

Butterfield 9 last night was an excellent choice. It's a lovely restaurant, and the food was both fabulous and a great deal, since restaurant week pricing is 30.07 for three courses. I had the butternut squash soup topped with pumpkin seed oil and toasted pumpkin seeds to start, which was so good I'd have been happy to have just a vat of that for dinner. My entree was roasted pork tenderloin with creamed barley, braised mustard greens and pork jus, the vanilla creme brulee for dessert, and the optional wine pairing with each course. Their normal menu looks interesting as well, assuming you're a carnivore; last night the venison was replaced by ostrich.

I don't see "kitty crack" listed on the ingredients for the Feline Greenies breath-freshening cat treats, but apparently it's in there. (Free samples available at the site, btw.) We came home last night to find the bag had been pushed off the coffee table and it had "somehow" migrated to the middle of the living room floor. I'm surprised there weren't more teeth marks in the bag.

Score of the weekend: really cute car-length pink wool coat, vaguely Dr. Girlfriend-ish, at Burlington Coat Factory on sale for $28.

Also, new haircut. Before the wailing and gnashing of teeth starts, I only got about three or four inches taken off the ends to get rid of the dead stuff and split ends. Considering that there was a bit of a language barrier, I figured that so long as I didn't actively hate it, I'd be content. No matter that I tell everyone that I don't blowdry my hair ever and I just want something I can wash and let air dry, they always insist on blowing it out and straightening it. The more I look at it though, the more I kinda like it. Not that I'm going to go to the effort to straighten it often, but it really does cut down on the frizz. (It's starting to wave back up on the ends since it got wet when I was out on my walk.)
