Next, on the topic of various memes going around:

- I'm not reposting that meme all over the f-list today that orders you to do so or else labels you a bigot; not a big fan of the wording on that one. I believe in civil rights, and I think any of you who read me probably have worked that out on your own. And I tend to assume that all of you wonderful people on my reading list believe in much the same way, even if you pass on posting the meme. Let me add that my annoyance with the thing is directed at the originator and their framing of it, and not with anyone who's reposted it.

- Also, in the collection of "things that are worrisome to me right now", sponsored LJ communities barely even register on that list. I can ignore them in exactly the same way I ignore every other community I'm not interested in. I'm frankly rather more bothered by the way rahaeli was originally hung out to dry.

Yet another piece of mainly-useless information for anyone who isn't me or anyone likely to be sharing said room with me at any point: I went ahead and booked my hotel room for Arisia, since a recent note said something about the main hotel being more than 2/3 full already. Mmm, nothing like a tropical getaway to Boston in January.

It's going to be odd to be in a different hotel this year.

Cross stitch

I finally finished a craft project! I think the last thing I finished would've been a crocheted blanket around 18 months ago. I'm good at starting things, but not so good with finishing them. =/

Anyway, I had this kit that brian1789 got for me a while back and I decided a couple of evenings ago that it was well past time to work on it. I don't know why I haven't been doing more cross stitch; I think I actually enjoy it more than crochet, although that may be related to the fact I know the bare minimum about crochet and haven't really done much work to change that lately. (See above about not being good about finishing things.)

The pattern is from Subversive Cross Stitch; here it is hot off the hoop, as you can see from the fabric. Needs pressing, and then an appropriate frame.
