Apr. 10th, 2005 04:41 pmAnyone local-ish (NoVA) have any recommendations for a decent mechanic to replace the CV joint on a 1996 Mazda Protege? Since the last place I took my car wanted $720 to replace my alternator (and two belts which, despite the shop's Chicken Little behavior, seem to be just fine months later), which was around $300 more than I was expecting based on previous alternator replacements, I'm thinking I don't want to even hear what they'd quote for this job. Ever notice how the only times you have to get expensive repairs done to your car always overlap with the times you can least afford it? Feh.
Other than discovering that I need to get that done (and really, for the last eight years this has been a very reliable car, especially given the sort of benign neglect with which I treat it), not a bad weekend so far. It's sunny and in the 70s instead of rainy and cool as expected, I managed to get some plants in the garden, and I got an (early) birthday present containing a copy of "Angels and Visitations" and a CD that has not yet failed to make me cry when listening to it. Heh, how weird does that sound? "I can't listen to it without bursting into tears; I love it!"
