geekchick: (cranky)
If you happen to know whether and how it's possible to merge two Quickbooks Pro 2004 databases without losing the data in either file, could you give me a ping at my geekchick@lj address?  I've SedTFW,  but so far the one thing I've seen is "use export and import, but you can't do either with transactions".

Have I mentioned lately that I hate Quickbooks?

[Edit: I found a Data Transfer Utility here. It still seems like you ought to be able to do this within the program itself without having to shell out $100+ for a separate piece of software, but far be it from me to claim to understand how Intuit works. I'll download it and try it out. Meanwhile, I'm off to my happy place with my cherry vanilla tea. Hold my calls.]

[Update: The Data Transfer Utility referenced there is a godsend. The free, unlicensed version only exports/imports two of each data type at a time; luckily there weren't that many entries that needed to be moved and that limit was perfectly acceptable to me.]
geekchick: (angst)
Today...was not a good day. I've not been sleeping very well, or very long, because my allergies have kicked in full-force and between the sinuses and the sore throat I just can't really sleep much. The first thing I was greeted with today when I walked in to the office was essentially "You must be feeling a lot worse, because you look like hell". Well, yeah, the dark circles under my eyes can't be helping, nor can my even-paler-than-usual shade.

Lack of sleep and general annoyance have made me cranky, and today I was in fact a raging bitch to people at work and to dear ones who really didn't do anything to deserve it. So, apologies to those of you I was cranky at today. I was bitchy even before I had to do find some way to merge two Quickbooks databases, one of which shouldn't have been used, and figure out how the references to the old database in the clients showed back up, since I'm *quite* sure I removed every single reference to it that I could find. Then I sent out a note to several mailing lists which contained incorrect information, since to the best of my knowledge I'd never been told about the updated version; now I just look stupid at worst, ill-informed at best. On top of the crankiness, feelings of being stressed seem to grow exponentially when I'm already not dealing all that well, so by the end of my stint in the office I was about ready to pack up and not come back until sometime next week.

I think tonight's plans consist in large part of a big glass of wine, a bath with the rosewood, bergamot and vanilla bubble bath, and maybe a good cry. Each of those on their own seem to do a reasonable job at relieving stress, maybe all three of them in combination will turn me into a tolerable human being for the rest of the night. And if that doesn't work, I'll pull out the Playstation and blow shit up for a while; that *always* helps. (Oh hey, this song helps too; it's Scissor Sisters' "Take Your Mama" mashed up with the BeeGees' "Night Fever"; very odd. You can get your own copy here, on the "bootlegs" page.)
