Sep. 11th, 2003 09:26 pmToday is Prickle-Prickle, day 35 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3269.
Good thing:
Going for tea for my scarily-similar cow orker's birthday (which also happens to be our accountant's birthday as well). Cucumber sandwiches, peaches and cream tea, and lemon tarts. Mmmm.
Bad thing:
Wireless access point not working.
Good thing:
It's a needed kick in the butt to get stuff migrated off of this old 98 box and onto the new Win2K/RH 9 system sitting downstairs. And I just got it working again, but now my card reader doesn't work. D'oh.
Bad thing:
Nearly blowing a gasket when I got a second copy of the pay-or-quit notice from the rental office. (Short version: they credited my rent check to the wrong address and sent us a nastygram on Monday telling us we were $600 short on rent and to pay up or get ready to get out, on top of all the other stuff going on that day. I got it straightened out on Monday afternoon, but they apparently send you one copy via the "under the door" method and one via US Mail.)
Good thing:
Little tiny kittens! (No, their eyes really are that blue.) There were two more in the office today, the rest of the survivors from the litter at the construction site. One little stripey orange girl and one little boy with an odd gray coat with splashes of orange. The original three are also males, one solid black, one black with a little white patch on the chest (dubbed "Velcro" for his habit of climbing up on anyone nearby, perching on their shoulder and digging claws into their clothing), and a little gray one with white patches. They spent the day wrestling each other and following people around. Awww.
