sense enough to stop dating
May. 6th, 2003 12:31 amToday is Sweetmorn, day 53 in the season of Discord, 3269.
I had the most wonderful dinner tonight with my ex, who some of you may know from IRC. As we both agreed tonight, it was a wise decision that we made to not be in a Relationship anymore, because now we can just enjoy each other's company and remember why it is we liked each other in the first place. Well, one of the reasons. Heh.
It's amazing that we get along so well now. Our relationship when we were dating each other was, er, turbulent. Lots of highs, and many, many equally dramatic lows. We fought A Lot. After we decided that it just wasn't working to have a romantic relationship like that, we haven't had a disagreement since and we're still on very friendly terms. As he put it, sometimes the "who" is right, but the "what" is wrong; I think we had the "who" right, we just needed to find the "what" that fit us, and it wasn't being romantic partners. I still love him dearly and truly enjoy the time spent in his company. He's also, by the way, incredibly charming, highly intelligent and insanely good-looking, so it's not like three hours spent conversing and laughing over an excellent dinner (mushroom and potato and fennel soup, salmon and crab meat in a saffron cream sauce and scallops in lemon-butter sauce) was any sort of hardship for me. *grin*
