May. 10th, 2002 06:11 pmToday is Setting Orange, day 57 in the season of Discord, 3268.
Ever notice how 20 minutes at home in the morning before leaving for work goes by so much faster than 20 minutes watching the clock on Friday afternoon and waiting for the hands to point to "quitting time"? I've conquered the misbehaving shipping software, so all is well on that front. Caught up on all the email that needed to be answered for work, and a fair amount of the not-work stuff too. Set up a list of things to do next week (hm, maybe that research proposal would be fun). And I've discovered Figwit. This is why I love the web, folks. ("Nameless elf gets cult Rings status")
What I'd really love to do this weekend if I hadn't already committed my Saturday to other plans is some heavy-duty spring cleaning. Moving furniture, flipping the mattress, dusting, steam cleaning the carpets (maybe I can persuade
brian1789 to come over and steam clean the furniture?), packing away clothes that don't fit and the winter coats, maybe doing a little redecorating since I know we're going to be in this space for at least another year. Yeah, all that in 48 hours, sure. But I could get a good start, and if I could get C. to lend a hand I could make some progress. I've been trying to clean the cobwebs and clutter out of my mental space, I should do the same for my physical space; I think the former might even be easier either after or simultaneously with achieving the latter. You really stop appreciating weekends when you're not working; now that I am actually out of the house for 10 hours or more every weekday and am too tired to take on large projects when I get home at 7:15 or 7:30, those two days of getting to stay home if I so choose have gotten very important to me again. Plus I miss being able to get stuff done during the week.
Speaking of "done", it seems to be about that time. Just need to update the antivirus software on one more office machine and then I can flee
