My, what a lot of weather we're having
Apr. 19th, 2002 03:40 pmToday is Prickle-Prickle, day 36 in the season of Discord, 3168.
A very impressive storm just rolled through here a bit ago. We were standing outside the office watching the rain off in the distance on one side, and boiling dark clouds headed our way on another. Gotta love a green sky (or not, actually). The downside to this storm was that it dumped a fair amount of water into our office because of some apparently not-resolved-as-thought roof issues. So there was the day's "excitement", trying to figure out how exactly to unplug the postage meter and the radio while they were sitting underneath a waterfall.
Between the storm and the pounding headache (which I think having someone crack my spine would get rid of, but I can't seem to do it myself), having my brain shot off onto an intriguing tangent and not coming back yet, and having more than half the office already gone, I am not seeing myself being terribly productive today. Oh well. I will make up for it next week, I promise. Sometime when the UPSen aren't screaming at me every 10 minutes or so.
I'm tempted to just take off early (which for me means something like 5) and go home to start cleaning up for having people over tomorrow. No more birthday parties for me, not on a large scale, at any rate; I'm just going to have a few folks over for dinner and movie-watching. I wonder if anyone other than myself would consider "Dark Victory" to be an appropriate birthday sort of movie. *chuckle* Other than a little bit of musing about it here, I'm mostly not focusing so much on it this year. No big production this year like I attempted last year. It's not a milestone birthday or anything, and I honestly forgot it was even coming up until a few weeks ago. But I got a birthday e-card with monkeys on it (yay, monkeys!) from HWSMB and this gorgeous book from a couple of friends. (Thank you! I'm sorry, I couldn't resist and I opened it when it showed up yesterday.) And the gift of knowing that it wasn't just me. *smile*
