Mar. 17th, 2002 07:36 pmAh, sunny San Diego. It's actually "cold" (by which I mean it's in the 50s today). The flights yesterday sucked; first trip to Charlotte ended up with a detour to Richmond to pick up folks from a cancelled flight. Now I know that it takes 17 minutes to fly from Dulles to Richmond, not that one would normally do that kind of thing. The flight from Charlotte to DC REALLY sucked, as it was an hour late and I was in the middle seat between two large men, one of whom decided to read a newspaper. Six hours of sitting in that hunched-up position left me quite cranky on arrival. I need a chiropractor to unwedge my neck.
Other than the mangled spine, it's not bad. The hotel is right on the bay (although I have a view overlooking the train tracks instead, but my room at least has heat - unlike K.'s room on the bay view side). K. and I decided to go on a harbor cruise this afternoon; the first half was kind of dull but the second half where the unfortunately punny guide identified for us each of the docked active-duty ships was more interesting. Passed the Stars and Stripes heading back in to the harbor. (Unless you already know what it is, you're unlikely to find that particularly interesting and may not even if you DO know what it is. ;) ) Tonight's plan is to go have dinner at K's sister's house and spend some more time on line to make sure all the stuff for tomorrow's meeting is taken care of, and try to convince myself that waking up at 7:30 is really waking up at 10:30. Heh.
