Today's random factoid:
About 6.5 million orders will be placed online, predicts BizRate.com, with an average purchase amount of around $100. That's pretty pricey, given that almost 60 percent of respondents to a Yankelovich survey describe Valentine's Day as too expensive. Three-quarters of those surveyed find the holiday over-marketed. Even so, only 14 percent of single women and 10 percent of single men would like to receive that inexpensive token known as the love note.
Hm. If it's an actual note with some thought put into it, there's no competition at all in my mind.
(Why does winamp seem determined to pull out every single depressing and bitter tune in my collection today? That, missing my LD sweeties and the overcast, cold day are doing absolute wonders for my mood.)
