Today is Pungenday, day 35 in the season of Discord, 3168.

Well, no WONDER I've been feeling run-down the last few days. The Post says:
With more than 90 considered a high pollen count, the figure of 2,587 set Wednesday in D.C. is incredible.
All is suddenly clear. And just for good measure, "The D.C. Medical Society's pollen count for today is 2449 and the major pollen source is trees."

Sort of like dealing with potentially toxic fallout, or asbestos... keep living areas sealed, knock the dust down with water spray, filter everything, dust only after applying moisture (to make it heavy and keep it from going airborne again)... I suppose that part-face respirators between office-and-car might be overdoing it, even for extreme pollen counts, but one can get those for about $30 along with a couple of cartidges. They're useful for dealing with household solvents, too...

Truffles? (grin) Sure... I periodically make them and send small batches to sweeties of mine. Starting with Valentine's Day before last, when I stayed up after Pat had gone to sleep in order to surpise her the next morning with two dozen rolled plus flowers. Although Nancy seems to prefer that I leave her with tangerines from my backyard instead, perhaps because she's living in the Frozen North... ;-)

I live in the frozen north, too, but I sure wouldn't mind a taste of your truffles sometime. Do friends get a chance, or is it something reserved for sweeties? :-)

(grin) I would be happy to provide a sample sometime, either mailed or dropped-off in person in July :-) (or next month, in [livejournal.com profile] geekchick's case).
All I need is a request ;-).

(fingers red beard fragment) well, my sister raises horses... I know of a couple helicopter leasing companies, but it runs about $900/hour... can't help world peace, but I did see a 1960s-vintage box marked "Polaris Arming System" in a bunch of Navy surplus once in our warehouse here... but truffles I can manage. And I'm supposed to be in DC (well, Greenbelt) from May 19-22, on business...

(giggle) how could I resist that?

I haven't sent truffles to non-sweeties in the past because of, um, the potential interpretations of a box of chocolates turning up unannounced. That's sort of a statement of Intent, or even considered overt courting behavior. (grin) In any case, since you've asked, I can now send both of you some truffles without worrying about that stuff.

Wow. I don't have plant allergies, but a pollen count that high might give even me respiratory trouble. Blech.

Do you know where to go for accurate pollen count information online in different regions? I have to wonder what it's been around here. I still have this icky sinus infection and am taking antibiotics for it. =( I think allergies triggered it, unfortunately.

DAMN!!! No wonder I've been tired all week. I don't get sneezy but pollen does make me lethargic. And there was a nice green layer on my car when I left work today. For the record, I was parked in the garage.
