guess who's finally employed?

Got an offer over lunch today, go me! And a nice one, at that. Better than I'd been expecting, as they offered me more money up front than I asked for and offered a review and possible raise after six months. Three weeks of vacation. Tuition reimbursement up to a certain level, along with a generally excellent benefits package (100% paid insurance coverage, can't beat that with a stick). I'm da man. I start a week from Monday, and I believe I will end up going to Austin at the end of the month for the annual meeting.

Thanks! I asked today if this was normal procedure, and I was told that it wasn't really unusual. The organization almost never hires anyone, so when they do they want to make sure they get it right. And since there are only five employees counting me, they want to make sure that everyone in the office was going to get a good feeling about me. Makes perfect sense, although it was definitely frustrating.

Oh, perhaps I shouldn't come. NASA canceled
our project on Friday. We were supposed to build
a sattelite for 180 Mill. The cost estimate
was 235 Mil.
