Self, it will add something like another four hours to your eight hour drive if you head south towards Deals Gap rather than straight back up 81 and would be a stupid idea, no matter how FREAKIN' AWESOME SCARY AWESOME that drive would be. Of course it would be even more so if you were in, say, the MR2, but whatever. Hey Chris: road trip once the car's running again? Maybe we can get Devon to come along. ;)

Nah, it takes the drive from something like 8 hours to more like 12 or 13. I'd hit the Dragon early in the day, but then would have to come up through NC and I suspect I'd be wiped out by the time I get home. Would rather do it when I don't have another 500 miles ahead of me that day. Twelve or thirteen hours of driving is exhausting; ten hours is about my limit for the day I think.

Deals Gap is the real deal. The riding pictures I have were taken at Deals Gap I rode it for two days and plan to go back. I vote yes for Deals Gap.

I'm shocked to hear you've done that ride. SHOCKED, I tell you! ;) I got sucked into watching YouTube videos last night for an hour, most of which ended with "...and here's where the guy in front of me wiped out". o_O

Like I said to Brian, it'll add another four hours or so to an already long driving day. (I won't have time really to stop in NC or southwest VA for the night.) Also, I'm pretty sure little ol' me in my Mazda would mostly just be in the way. Unlike this guy in the Mercedes.
