Today is Sweetmorn, day 52 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3271.

I was amused to find that my $20 bottle of wine tonight came with a screw-top. It was not, however, in a bottle as big as my head.*   (Yes, I know perfectly good wines come with screw-tops these days, I just hadn't encountered one yet and didn't even notice until I got the bottle home and pulled out the corkscrew.)

I spent the evening with a pot of homemade butternut squash soup, the aforementioned bottle of dry riesling, and "Harold and Maude". What a wonderful little movie that is.

* Former coworker's Law of Wine Consumption: "Never drink wine from a bottle bigger than your head." It's a rule that's served me well.

My rule was to stop drinking when my head felt like a bottle. See, 'tis is a dangerous thing to be both Irish and Scottish by ancestry. If alcohol is in front of you, you have to drink it no matter how awful -- you just can't waste alcohol and alcohol costs money. I've sadly killed many a brain cell in my past, but I still think Dubya is a big poopyhead, so it's all good.

*love Harold and Maude and butternut squash too*

The mood ring says: *hic*

I just envisioned that from a See-N-Say. :-)

Happened to me some couple of weeks ago.

A bottle from TJ's (less than 20, but worth it for what was being done, which was cooking chickens). Good wine, but strange to open.
