A relatively recent addition to the list of things I want to do at least once in my life, occasioned by reading this article when it appeared in the Post: Visit Vienna during the winter ball season..

Of course, I should learn to dance before I do. Seeing as how I tend towards the clumsy and uncoordinated, this is likely to be a goal that won't be achieved in the decidedly near future. And yeah, I admit that the fact that I'd have to get dolled up in a ball gown plays at least some part in my desire to go. ;)

Either being very tired or generally having a dirty mind or a combination of the two caused me to pause for a minute to figure out just what that phrase actually meant. ;-)

I should learn to dance before I do.

I know you have plenty of local resources, but sometime when I'm in the area, I'd love to dance with you. It's fun. Even something that isn't a difficult step like contra dance. :-)

Actually, when I read "winter ball season" my first thought was "gee, I didn't know they played baseball in Vienna.... I bet that's cold."

You could check out or join dc_dancers for info/questions about local dances/lessons. I know there are a couple of places that teach around you, and of course there are lots of courses at Glen Echo (http://www.glenechopark.org/).

Oh no, that doesn't call for boots at all. That's an occasion for delicate little strappy shoes with leather soles. =) And a big swirly skirt.
