Nov. 22nd, 2003 02:05 pmToday is Sweetmorn, day 34 in the season of The Aftermath, 3269.
*wooze* My sleep schedule has been all fscked up lately; I was up until 3:30 or 4 AM every day last week for some reason. I would get my four hours of sleep, go to work, be exhausted when I got home and then catch a second wind or something and be up either watching C. play "Ratchet and Clank" or reading until after 3 AM. Not good. (I did get a good chunk of "Kushiel's Dart" finished, at least.) By yesterday afternoon, my boss told me that it was obvious I wasn't sleeping and I looked like hell, so if I was really exhausted and wanted to go home I could. I did have a moment at work yesterday where I decided I couldn't work on an indexing script because I was too exhausted to be absolutely sure I wasn't screwing it up, but other than that I really didn't feel as bad as I obviously looked. I decided to concentrate on doing less thought-intensive tasks like archiving and clearing off 11 GB of image files off our web server and starting in on rough drafts of some documentation I need to write. I got about 10 hours of sleep last night though (and after averaging 4 and a half hours last week, that seems to have been enough to give me a headache), and I have all of next week off so that hopefully I can work on fixing whatever's causing my insomnia.
I read Diary of a Wombat last night; it made me smile. I may have to scan some of the illustrations to use as my WomBAT icon.
I was thinking of perhaps going down to visit my siblings for Thanksgiving, but I just found out yesterday that my vacation was approved and C. is not getting to take this week off after all so driving is right out; with two of us, we could maybe do it in one shot, but it's about 16 hours and we'd spend more time in the car than visiting. Maybe I'll try to make plans to go down there around Christmas; I've got nieces and nephews I haven't met yet. Note to self: try to figure out a way to get the vanity table that was your grandmother's back up to DC sometime; it's only been four years at this point. Since I'm not travelling this week and it's going to be warm, maybe I'll use that time to do some fall cleaning before we shut up the house for the winter and before we have to start packing. It's a good plan, let's see how it works out in practice, eh?

Date: 2003-11-22 11:17 am (UTC)Yay!
I read Diary of a Wombat last night
I think it was at Curious George Goes to Wordsworths in Harvard Square that I saw that with Al, and was very tempted. :-)
Current Mood barely coherent

Date: 2003-11-22 12:08 pm (UTC)Are you a Wombat, too? Too bad about C's vacation... especially if he subsequently ends up in a use-or-lose situation. I still think that if they won't let him use it, they should let him roll it over into the next year. I hear that London's nice in January... ;-).

Date: 2003-11-22 02:34 pm (UTC)They decided they'd let C. cash out the vacation he can't use, so he's doing that instead. Since I'm taking two weeks off next month, I won't be able realistically to take another vacation in January. =/

Date: 2003-11-22 05:14 pm (UTC)If you're off for 2 weeks... and C. isn't, and you're not going to see Oysterband... want a ticket out here for a visit? (bats eyelashes)
