decisions, decisions...
Aug. 23rd, 2003 11:16 amToday is Setting Orange, day 16 in the season of Bureaucracy, 3269.
Okay, so there's supposedly going to be a triple bill LOTR showing on Dec. 16-17. My sweetie is one of those folks who would happily sit in a movie theater for 11 or 12 hours to watch them all back to back, and I could probably be persuaded to as well, maybe. Thing is, if we schedule our London trip to coincide with the Oysterband show, that has us leaving on the 9th and returning on the 16th, and that's the only date range that will have us in London on the 12th. So...looks like we get to make a choice: humor the raving fanboy and go earlier so that we can be here for the LOTR showing, or humor the raving fangirl and stick to the plan of seeing the Oysters' 25th anniversary show? Heh.

Date: 2003-08-23 08:34 am (UTC)Besides, you could always get off of the plane on the afternoon of the 16th and go to the theater for the next 12 hours... 3pm-2am will equal something like 8pm-7am to your body clocks then, so you could expect to sleep through "Two Towers".

Date: 2003-08-24 09:39 pm (UTC)While it would be cool to see them all in the theater (ideally in a mother-huge place with stadium seating, and first-class sound -- Arundel Mills would do nicely), the tickets are going to fucking hard to come by, and you're going to have to trade in a kidney for them.
Better to get the whole trilogy on DVD, and then have a Tolkien-fest in the comforts of your own home.
Anyway, like Brian said, live events ought to trump recorded ones. That's my two-cents-worth, anyway.

It took a couple of readings to stop saying to myself "why on earth would he think that saying I should skip the trilogy and go to London would be "not on my side"? Heh. Need...sleep...
And need details of apc10! Spill 'em when you've had time to recover. ;)

Date: 2003-08-25 01:45 pm (UTC)Of course, m'dear! Actually, we're here in Baltimore for overnight, and we fly to the Dread Midwest tomorrow morning. I don't think I'll have time to get to it before we head back out, as I'm doing large quantities of laundry tonight, but as soon as we get back, I promise.
