How cool is this?
From a remote region in the heart of Africa to a genetics lab at the Omaha Zoo, scientists are trying to find out if they have a new big ape on their hands. [...] "Discovering any new primate is a huge thing, a new ape would be incredible, " said Ed Louis, conservation geneticist at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska.

Yes, I know apes != monkeys. It's a joke, son...ya eats it.

And people think cryptozoologists are cranks.... how else do folks expect to find cool things like this?? There is also some evidence for the "orang pendek", an allegedly bipedal ape in Sumatra, but AFAIK, the thing that makes scientists cautious about this one is the idea that it might be bipedal, like people.

Seriously, it amazes me that in this technologically advanced, heavily populated age that ANY creature of this size can be unknown to science for as long as this one has! I'll be very interested to see this story develop
