Dude, don't say pigf*cker in front of Jesus!

While I was waiting to get confirmation that the dates for my planned visit were okay, the price went up overnight...from $257 to $686.

Pigf*ckers.

I'll keep looking around. There are cheaper flights on Northwest, but they involve leaving San Jose at 6:30 AM on Sunday. I think the problem is that I forgot that weekend was Labor Day, which explains why there are no seats and fares suck so badly. :-/

Are you going to be in Silicon Valley over Labor Day weekend?? [livejournal.com profile] aliciar and I will be there Friday, 8/29, arriving at SFO around 11am. Sometime Saturday, we're heading down to San Luis Obispo for a wedding (back sometime on Labor Day (Monday))...

Oh, shit. Check every site you can - I've found price differences between Travelocity, Expedia, and the airline's web site.

Oh yeah, I've never found Orbitz to have the cheapest rates actually. This was Travelocity, and it was $5 more than the airline's site. I'll keep looking. If I get exceedingly desperate, I can drive the 90 minutes to BWI and take Southwest I suppose.

Heh, I *did* shop around. =) Like I said to [livejournal.com profile] wldrose, I totally forgot it was Labor Day weekend and that's why I'm essentially fooked. There are cheaper flights, but they involve leaving SJC at 6:30 AM on Sunday, and I do need to be back home on Sunday evening.

Problem fixed (by Continental, thanks to an enthusiastic agent) if you (a) are willing to accept a free FF ticket, and (b) fly from IAD on Delta via Salt Lake.

Mmm, I hadn't since I didn't know whether or not Oakland was doable for the folks I was visiting. On the other hand, I was planning on renting a car for the weekend, so it'd be more of an issue whether I could find my way out. Things to ponder...

No, it's not your fault; it's not anybody's fault other than the airline. My annoyance is with Continental for that insane price increase; I put in the clarification that it was aimed at the airline so hopefully no one would think I was angry at them. (I'm not.)

Yeah, they'd been on a downward trend for about a week previously, and then suddenly this particular non-heinous routing jumped up by hundreds of dollars. I think I'm going to go the frequent-flyer route offered instead, which will neatly sidestep the problem of either buying this week or waiting til the last minute.

*nod* Thursday would be the 21-day cutoff, so I suppose it could drop back down before then. I think I'm taking the frequent flyer miles offered instead, which will free me up to pay for the hotels and rental car. Go, me. =)

Yeah, I find fares seem to be worst Friday-Monday, so have a look 'round tomorrow evening.

Current plan is to head to Vegas around September 9, hang there a couple of days, then visit my sweetie's 'rents in AZ.
